Auction
THE
AUCTION PROCESS
The Committee or Board of any museum wishing to participate
in the auction is requested to appoint a representative to
bid its behalf. These individuals must have an email address
that is registered for use during the viewing and auction
process.
The deaccessioned artifacts may be previewed via the website
only. Physical inspections are not possible due to resource
and time constraints. Museums wishing to participate in the
auction will not be required to bid in real dollars but rather
will use 200 NTA (National Trust of Australia) auction credits
that are extended to each museum account when they register
for the auction.
The auction will commence at 8am on Wednesday 26th September
and close at 8pm the same day. Bids will be by email sent
to bids@ntwa.com.au
in the form of a completed biding form as supplied. Museum
representatives will be required to register the accession
number(s) of the items that they wish to acquire and nominate
how many of their museum’s 200 NTA auction credits they
wish to ‘spend’ on each. The National Trust will
review the bids and advise the museum representatives of the
results via email no later than 5pm Friday 28th September.
AUCTION CONDITIONS
The winning bid will, in most circumstances, be that with
the highest number of auction credits. The National Trust
does however reserve the right to request that a museum justifies
the proposed acquisition in light of its collections or acquisition
policy.
The National Trust reserves the right to refuse bids and
to withdraw items from the auction at any time without notice
or explanation.
All items will be transferred to recipient museums with copies
of any relevant documentation and provenance, with a transfer
of ownership and will be considered an unrestricted gift.
It is intended that recipient museums acquire objects on the
basis that they are retained while they continue to serve
the mission of the museum. It is not considered within the
spirit of this project, nor within the ethical standards of
the profession, that museums will acquire artifacts with the
intention of selling them for financial gain.
All items are offered in good faith and on an “as is”
basis. The National Trust will accept no responsibility for
any errors in description nor provide any warranty as to condition.
Photographs and other information are provided for reference
and identification only.
Successful museum bidders will be required to assume all
costs related to the packaging, removal and transportation
of the artifacts acquired and will have seven working days
in which to remove them before the transaction is considered
to be cancelled. The removal and use of the objects is at
the recipient museum’s own risk.
Please complete the form below if you wish to participate
in the auction process. The email address you supply must
be the email address you use when submitting a bid.
