Ms Irene Stainton
Chairperson, Aboriginal Cultural Material Committee

Irene Stainton is the Chairperson of the Aboriginal Cultural Material Committee in the Aboriginal Affairs Department. She is also Chairperson of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee for the Western Australian Museum; on the Board of Trustees of the WA Museum and Board Member of the Berndt Museum of Anthropology at the University of Western Australia.

Irene has also delivered discussion papers to the United Nations, Geneva and Switzerland in July 1994 and 1995. She is also an Aboriginal Council member to the National Inquiry into the Separation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children from their families, which resulted in the "Bringing Them Home Report" and before her present position was the Registrar of Aboriginal Sites.
