Lennie is a librarian who retired in 1998 from the position as Director of the JS Battye Library of West Australian History after a career in various positions of senior management with the Library and Information Service of Western Australia over 28 years and is an Associate of the Australian Library and Information Association, an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and Associate of the Records Management Association of Australia.
An active participant in professional affairs, included offices held on State and National branches, related bodies and working parties associated with libraries and research.
A member of the Society since the late 1960's with an interest in the promotion and enjoyment of history was elected to the Council of the Royal Western Australian Historical Society and has served in various positions on the Council over the past ten years serving as Chairman of Council and as one of the two Vice Presidents since 1999.
Other community involvements have included membership of the National Trust of Australia (WA) since the late 1960's, serving as an active member of the Younger Group and as an elected member of the National Trust Council for 12 years in the 1970's and 1980's.
A charter member of the Zonta Club of Perth Inc since 1971 to date serving the community in local, State and National positions in the Zonta International District 23, a service organisation of executives in business and the professions advancing the status of women worldwide. Represented the Zonta Clubs in WA as an inaugural member of the Western Australian Reconciliation Advisory Group and member of the Community working group 1998-2000
Born in Claremont Western Australia and educated in Western Australia. Travelled in UK and Europe in 1961-62 and employed in the fields of personnel, secretarial, selling and ancestry research.
