Ms Lesley Thomas
Manager, Covenanting Program, National Trust of Australia (WA)

Lesley has been the Manager of the National Trust's Conservation Covenanting Program since late in 1999. Before then she was an active volunteer working with the Trust on covenanting and advocacy issues relating to Natural Heritage. She was a member of the Council of the National Trust for five years until September 1999.

Originally, Lesley trained as a zoologist, and has spent time both in academia and working as an environmental consultant. She describes her current position at the Trust as 'the best job in the world', as it involves working with people who are committed to conservation, and results in land being dedicated to conservation protection and management.

Lesley is also a published poet and writer, who tries not to confuse the two areas of her life, but who hopes that each part feeds and nourishes the other.
