Community Service Project
The Community Service government initiative began in 2007 and
was set up to help Western Australian secondary school students
understand the value of giving service to the community.
The National Trust of Australia (WA) Education & Learning
department has been working with schools to develop a Community
Service program that:
• Helps students understand the value of heritage
• Benefits others
• Is purposeful and meaningful
• Provides opportunities for learning and reflection
• Produces material for an audience of similar age and ability
In 2007 the focus for the program is East Perth Cemeteries.
Two schools took part in the project. The materials they produced
