Robert Jackaman was born in 1820 in England. He came to Western Australia in 1853 on January 13th on the ship theTravencore .
He arrived with his wife Susannah and four children. Their youngest son was born at sea on their way from Portsmouth to Fremantle. They named him Seaborn Travencore Jackaman!
The Jackamans’ owned half a lot on Stirling Street.
Robert was the Corporal of Police for twelve years. He journeyed with the official party to the failed colony at Camden Harbour. During the journey on the Tien Tsin Robert drowned at Foury Island in Shark Bay.
His wife Susannah was from Edithburg in South Australia and after she was widowed she went back to live there with the children.
