The forum explores a diversity of mechanisms for resourcing the conservation of nature conservation on private land.
These mechanisms will be reviewed, recognising that increasingly, private landholders are taking the initiative in conserving native vegetation on their properties.
Government and non-government mechanisms to support these initiatives are also diversifying. However, for those involved in these conservation endeavours, the picture is often complex and fragmented.
As part of the review session, this paper will seek to examine how we can better invest in nature conservation on private land, taking account of the other influences outside resourcing.
The 'one stop shop' approach to Natural Heritage Trust funding is but one element attempting to address a greater need to provide landholders with an integrated suite of financial, property-right, educational and other incentives to support their work.
Commonwealth, State and Local Governments and community organizations all have roles to play.
