Doug Humann
Doug has been Executive Director and then CEO of the Australian Bush Heritage Fund, based in Hobart, Tasmania, since September 1997.
From 1990 – 1997 he was Director of Victoria's leading independent member-based nature conservation organisation, the Victorian National Parks Association. During this time he worked primarily to improve the public reserve system in Victoria.
Doug is a member of the Tasmanian Government's National Parks and Wildlife Advisory Council and has been appointed to the World Conservation Union's Commission on National Parks and Protected Areas. In 1997 Doug was awarded the honour of Wild magazine's Australian Environmentalist of the Year, largely for his leadership of the campaign to protect Victoria's popular Wilsons Promontory National Park from inappropriate commercial developments.
Doug has a Diploma in Education and BA (Honours, Geography) from Melbourne University and taught for nine years in a Melbourne secondary school. His interest in the outdoors and nature conservation has led to extensive travel throughout Australia.
