Dr Jenny Gregory

Jenny Gregory is Director of UWA Press. She is also Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Western Australia, and between 1989 and 1998 was Director of the Centre for WA History at UWA.

She is President of the National Trust (WA), a member of the Fremantle Prison Trust and the Centenary of Federation State Committee. Until recently she was a member of the Heritage Council of WA. She is also national chair of Publish Australia, and has been a member of the executive of the Australian Historical Association.

She holds a doctorate in history (on the development of middle class suburbia in Australia), has taught courses in urban history, and the history and heritage of Western Australia for over a decade, and supervised the research of honours and postgraduate studies working in the fields of Australian and Western Australian history.

Her major publications include Building a Tradition: a history of Scotch College 1897-1996 (1996), a joint publication with Geoffrey Bolton, Claremont: a history (1999) and three edited collections Western Australia between the Wars 1919-1939 (1991), On the Homefront: Western Australia and World War II (1996), and Historical Traces (1996), as well as numerous articles. She also co-ordinated the development of the CD-Rom Traces of the Past: the National Trust Register of the Built Heritage of Western Australia (1997). She is presently writing a major history of Perth since the 1950s for the City of Perth.
