Judy Lambert
Judy Lambert grew up on a farm in north-eastern Victoria. She has a diversity of academic training scattered throughout her career including working as a research scientist, Canberra-based environmental lobbyist for The Wilderness Society and fulltime consultant to a former Federal Environment Minister. For almost 8 years now, Judy and her business partner Jane Elix have run the small consultancy business Community Solutions.
Throughout their work, Jane and Judy have focused strongly on natural resource management issues in the rural landscape, and have specialized in bringing together landholders, conservationists and others with an interest in the issues, with a view to building better mutual understanding and ability to influence decision-makers at all levels of government.
Projects funded by Land & Water Australia and the NHT have allowed Community Solutions to bring together a diversity of stakeholders interested in Grassy White Box woodlands. They also brought together the team, headed by CSIRO's Mike Young, which prepared for Environment Australia the report 'Reimbursing the Future' which has served as a catalyst of considerable further work on incentives for the conservation of Australia's biodiversity. Judy is also nearing the end of a 5-year natural resource management consultancy with Meat & Livestock Australia's northern Australian beef R&D program.
When time permits, Judy is a keen bushwalker and SCUBA diver - activities that have been curtailed somewhat by her election to Local Government two years ago.
