Joanne Millar

Joanne began her career as a beef extension officer with the Department of Agriculture in north east Victoria, after completing a degree in Agricultural Science and working for the Tasmanian Wilderness Society in Melbourne. She worked closely with all sectors of the beef industry and facilitated beef producer discussion groups. This led to an interest in landcare groups and six years providing pasture advice to a network of groups in the region.

Joanne completed a PhD at Charles Sturt University to research the role of farmer knowledge in managing native and introduced grasses in the Murray Darling Basin upland. After 13 years in the high country of Victoria, Joanne and her family moved to Brisbane so she could take up the challenge of establishing a new nature conservation extension network for Queensland. Joanne's aspirations are to assist and inspire landholders to farm sustainably and to work in overseas development.
