Kevin Roberts
Kevin Roberts is the Manager for Conservation Planning with the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service. He is the NSW representative on the ANZECC working group on nature conservation on private land and is responsible for coordination of the Voluntary Conservation Agreement program in NSW.
He is presenting on behalf of the working group that includes NSW Farmers' Association, Worldwide Fund for Nature, the NSW Department of Land and Water Conservation and NSW Agriculture. This group has been responsible for advising on the development of the NSW Nature Conservation Trust Bill 2000.
In NSW, the Voluntary Conservation Agreement scheme and the Wildlife Refuge program have been running for many years now. The wildlife refuge scheme has been in existence since the 1950's and is probably one of the longest running conservation partnership schemes in Australia.
The lessons learnt from such schemes will be invaluable for the proposed Trust as it commences its conservation work.
Kevin has previously worked with the Department of Land and Water Conservation and was involved in development of the NSW Native Vegetation Conservation Act and its partnership components.
