Dr Robert Lambeck
Dr Lambeck has been CEO of Greening Australia (Western Australia) for just over three months. At Greening Australia (WA) they are seeking to work with community and government to develop landscape-scale approaches to protecting biological diversity in agricultural, urban and peri-urban environments.
Prior to coming to Greening Australia, Dr Lambeck was a scientist with CSIRO Wildlife and Ecology (now CSIRO Sustainable Ecosystems) where he had a research interest in developing landscape designs for maintaining biodiversity in agricultural landscapes.
Over the past six years he has been involved in a number of programs that have attempted to implement conservation plans developed as part of his own research program. These projects represented a number of different delivery mechanisms: science-driven delivery, agency-driven delivery, and community-based participatory processes. It was his experiences in the latter category that initiated his move to Greening Australia (WA) – a move from science to an organisation that was ideally positioned to participate in community-based natural resource management.
