Thomas Kabii
Thomas has a bachelor degree in Forestry from Kenya and a Master of Forestry Science from University of Melbourne. Thomas has worked in Forestry Research with the Kenya Forestry Research Institute, and as a Resource Planner with the Kenya Wildlife Service. From 1994 to 1998, Thomas was employed in the Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands in Switzerland where he served as the Regional Coordinator for the African continent, with the tasks of supporting African Governments in the implementation of the convention, including accession to the Convention, formulation of policies and strategies for wetland resource conservation, preparing funding proposals for wetland projects, and preparation of management planning for wetlands sites according to the convention's guidelines.
Thomas has been in Australia since 1998 and is currently in his final stages of an interdisciplinary PhD program at Edith Cowan University. His great interest in the interdisciplinary approaches to natural resource management, incorporating the economic, social, ecological and political dimensions, led him to develop his PhD research topic entitled 'Development of a coordinated nature conservation covenant mechanism on private lands in Australia'. This research seeks to complement current efforts in nature conservation efforts on private lands.
Upon completion of his PhD, Thomas hopes to work in the area of integrated projects planning and management anywhere in the world. Any Job offers?
