Objectives: To explore the concept of Protected
Area Networks/Conservation Management Networks (CMN) and
to discuss draft national guidelines. To promote a national
profile for such networks and propose a strategy for achieving
recognised status complementary to/along side the National
Reserve System. To explore linkages between CMN initiatives
and other nature conservation on private land initiatives.

Objective: To explore potential linkages between
indigenous land conservation initiatives and private land
conservation programs. The workshop will also address some
of the attitudinal barriers to recognising indigenous heritage
on private property.

Workshop: Best Practice Management Agreements/Covenants

Objectives: A management agreement/covenant
should be able to secure protection and management of nature
conservation values over the long term. What 'best practice'
standards are required to ensure that such agreements/covenants
achieve this objective? Workshop to be preceded by discussion
of Commonwealth standards and an update on the Environment
Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 conservation
agreement provisions.

Objectives: To explore the specific roles
of local government in the conservation of bush on private
land, particularly the use of planning mechanisms, economic
incentives and cooperative programs that assist with key
management issues. To outline the steps forward needed at
