Each year the public is invited to walk along a section of former railway
formation in the Shire of Mundaring. The route chosen for 2008 is the
spur line built in 1898 to connect the Eastern Railway to the site chosen
for the storage dam for the Goldfields Water Supply. This year’s
Trek the Trail theme is Vistas and Visions and the Trust is putting together
a program of educational talks and walks to encourage participants to
continue that little bit further and visit No 1 Pump Station at the base
of the weir. The village of Mundaring grew up at this junction and on
Sunday, 21 September cyclists and walkers will depart from there, ending
up 7 km later at Mundaring Weir.
