Pub, Pumps and Pipes - 14 June

Just four places left on this walk (approx 6.5km) which explores the history and controversy surrounding the construction of the Mundaring Weir, the pump stations and the pipeline which transports water a massive 560km. With a National Trust guide follow the O’Connor Trail, the Bibbulmun Track and the Weir Walk. The tour of one of Australia’s most significant industrial heritage sites ends at the historic Mundaring Weir Hotel. Includes National Trust and Bibbulmun Track Foundation guides, entry in No1 Pump Station, and tea/coffee. Beverages at hotel and lunch not included. Members $35 non-members $45. A Discerning Eye - 26 June to 5 July

A photographic exhibition of heritage places captured by Michal Lewi AM over more than half a century. The exhibition includes places of cultural heritage significance, contemporary as well as historic, in Western Australia as well as Europe, Asia and North America. Moore’s Building, Fremantle. Earth (Mundaring Arts Centre) – Until 21 June

Throughout May and June, the Mundaring Art Centre celebrates the diversity of textiles and ceramics in a portrayal of an elemental theme close to the hearts of many people living in the hills. EARTH combines the talents of two of Perth’s finest artistic associations, FeltWEST and the Ceramic Arts Association of WA (CAAWA), representing the arts practice of their members and the services they provide to artists locally and abroad. Wildflower Discovery Day Walk - 31 August

Enjoy and learn about the many wildflowers in bloom on a guided walk near Kalamunda this Spring. (Aproximately 8km with some steep hills) Anne Ireland, co author of 'Wildflowers of the Northern Bibbulmun Track and Jarrah Forests', will assist you to identify the Flora along the way. Through the Eyes of a Camel – 6 July to 17 July

Aimed at primary-aged students, ‘Through the Eyes of a Camel’ reveals goldfields history from a camel’s point of view. Participants will “rush” to the goldfields and stage a camel race with wooden toy camels they have decorated and which they can take home afterwards. The cost is $10 per child and the program will run at No 1 Pump Station during the July school holidays. For more information contact the National Trust on 9321 6088.



Back to Dedari Day (B2DD) – October 2009

Make a day of it No 8 Pump Station! After many years of conservation including assistance from dedicated volunteers, No 8 has reopened (by appointment). To celebrate, the Golden Pipeline project is organising an open day and sausage sizzle for people who lived or worked at No 8 Pump Station or had some other connection to the place.
