International Guest Speaker - 12 November

Australia ICOMOS and Museums Australia (WA) present Cindi Malinck, the Executive Director of Decatur House on Lafayette Square, and the Director of Special Projects in the Stewardship of Historic Sites Department of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States. Explore the conservation, interpretation and management of the award winning Decatur House in Washington DC, which includes a rare urban slave quarters. This special event will be held at the National Trust of Australia (WA), 4 Havelock Street, West Perth. Entry fee: $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Limited seats. Festival of Cycling - 15 November

Experience cycling in a closed circuit like the professionals without the danger and the speed associated with racing. Enjoy direct supervision in a group ride with a qualified cycling coach around a 1.2km circuit at Perry Lakes as part of the Tour de Perth and Perth Integrated Health Clinic’s Festival of Cycling. Avondale Harvest Festival – 22 November

Enjoy life on a real working farm at the Avondale Harvest Festival. See wheat harvesting action and escape city life for a day at the National Trust’s newly acquired property. Attractions include spinning and turning, sheep shearing and working Clydesdales, as well as vintage cars and tractor parade. Christmas Carols at Tranby - 19 December

Bring all the family to Tranby, Johnson Road Maylands to celebrate Christmas and sing Carols on the lawn. Saturday 19 December. Admission: Adults $5.00; school age children $2.00, preschoolers FREE. Christmas at Home Fair – 5 December

Take your Christmas list to this year’s Christmas at Home Fair at Bridgetown’s historic Town Hall. This free community event offers contemporary arts and crafts from the Blackwood River region. Perfect gift ideas from talented woodcarvers, weavers, patchwork quilters and toy makers are available to fill your Christmas stockings. Visit the Tea Rooms and sample delicious preserves from local orchards, home-made shortbread and freshly baked mince pies between 9am and 4pm. A festive day for the whole family.



Talbot Hobbs Exhibition – Until the 30 November

Joseph John Talbot Hobbs (1864-1938) migrated to Western Australia in 1887 and within a few years had become an acclaimed architect with buildings such as the Weld Club, Boans Store and the Swan Brewery to his credit. This Exhibition draws on the extensive collections of photographs, uniforms, original documents and personal memorabilia held by the Army Museum and the Royal Australian Artillery Historical Society. Opening time: 11am- 4pm Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Admission $5 included with Museum entry fee.


Park Walks New - Free Events 2010
