Central Greenough
Located 380 kilometres north of Perth, the Greenough Flats form the flood plain of the river system at the mouth of the Greenough River. During the 1860's Greenough became a thriving agricultural area with Central Greenough at the hub.
The eventual decline of the area was caused by a combination of wheat rust attacks, drought, flood and poor agricultural prices. Greenough's population dropped dramatically in the first half of the 20th century, and many of its buildings fell into disrepair. Since the 1970's, efforts have been made to prevent the further deterioration of buildings in and around the Central Greenough.
