Herdsman Lake Settler's Cottage

Today the region of Herdsman Lake is renowned as an internationally recognised wildlife sanctuary. Surrounded by several residential estates, it is situated about 6 kilometres north west of Perth.

The history of the Settler's Cottage at Herdsman Lake and the surrounding area is not necessarily unique. However, it is a typical example of marginal living from the land which contrasts dramatically with today's expectations of housing, comfort and convenience. The remaining Settler's Cottage and Lot have been developed to present the social history of Herdsman Lake.

Please note that Herdsman Lake Settler's Cottage is currently closed for maintenance and conservation work.
