Meet Suzanne Kosowitz; Composer, Arranger, Educator, Multi-instrumentalist
The Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composers’ House Trust announced the two recipients of its 2024 Prelude residency late last year, and we were thrilled to learn of Suzanne’s placement. Melbourne-based composer, percussionist and sound artist Matthias Schack-Arnott will spend 12 months in Glanville-Hick’s Paddington terrace in Sydney, while Suzanne will spend a year at Gallop House in Dalkeith. See Suzanne’s good news post here.
Suzanne attends world premiere of her choral composition
We were so happy to learn that Suzanne is in America this month to attend the world premiere of her choral composition “Elokai Netzor” at the 77th International Cantors Assembly Convention in Minneapolis.
Her composition “Elokai Netzor ” (O Lord, Guard My Tongue) is a sacred choral work in Hebrew, scored for acapella choir. It is based on the text of Elokai Netzor from the Amidah prayer. Her piece was chosen from a competitive pool of international applicants and will be performed on 21st May 2024 in Minneapolis by members of the convention, under the direction of Cantor Hinda Labovitz.
Suzanne’s travel to Minneapolis is supported by the WA Arts Short Notice Activity Program and made possible by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), Western Australia.
