Former Minister and Assistant Police Commissioner Hon Bob Kucera APM JP has been elected Chair of the National Trust of Western Australia. Bob’s election follows the retirement of former Chair Hon Michael Murray AM QC, who served as Chair from 2015.
Announcing the election results, National Trust President Hon Dr Ken Michael AC said, ‘We welcome Bob’s election and look forward to his leadership founded on many years as a State Government Minister, Assistant Commissioner of Police and serving board member on an ASX listed company as well as a number of not for profits. Bob has a proud tradition of serving our state and the National Trust Council is looking forward to his contributions to the post COVID recovery.’
The National Trust was quick to respond at the beginning of March as the COVID contagion loomed as a threat to the well being of its volunteers who meet visitors at National Trust places. National Trust staff have worked from home to maintain the day to day operations of the organisation.
On his election, Bob said that he was thrilled to have the confidence of the National Trust Council to take on the role of Chair and looked forward to furthering its aims at a time when more and more people are connecting with their heritage.
The National Trust pioneered heritage conservation in Western Australia and is chartered to conserve and interpret the natural and cultural heritage of our state. It cares for some 70 places, with most in the metropolitan, south and great southern regions.
For over 60 years now the National Trust of Western Australia has worked to preserve and protect important places, customs, and values from the past so they can be enjoyed by present and future generations.
