2024 Australian Heritage Festival celebrates our rich heritage
The Western Australian community warmly embraced the 2024 Australian Heritage Festival, connecting with our State’s rich heritage through engaging events and activities.
The support for the festival was as strong as ever with 85 event organisers hosting over 130 events in locations across WA during April and May. Events embodied this year’s theme ‘Connections‘, celebrating our link to people, places and the past, and the enduring connections that will shape the future of heritage.
A rich tapestry of events ensured there was something for everyone, catering to history enthusiasts and families alike, who sought both fun and educational experiences. Enabling participants to immerse themselves in the diverse narratives that shape our state.
Nine events were held at National Trust venues, including performances, workshops, exhibitions and markets. For ANZAC Day, sunset services were held at Peninsula Farm, Wu-rut Woorat and ANZAC Cottage, commemorating all who have served and continue to serve. Strawberry Hill at Barmup hosted a twilight tour exclusively for the festival, where guests enjoyed an evening of captivating stories to the voice of our passionate volunteers. Events were also held at Curtin Family Home, Samson House in Walyalup, The Old Observatory, Wonnerup House and Woodbridge at Mandoon.
The 2024 Australian Heritage Festival concluded with a resounding success, leaving participants and attendees with a deeper connection and a greater appreciation for our state’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
We thank the Western Australian community for their enthusiastic support toward the 2024 Australian Heritage Festival. With special appreciation for the dedicated event organisers, our passionate volunteers and Lotterywest, whose support made the festival possible.
We look forward to presenting the 2025 Australian Heritage Festival and continuing to celebrate our rich heritage with the WA community.
