Discover what life was like for an early Fremantle family.

This impressive home was built in 1888 and is considered one of the most significant heritage places in Western Australia due to its original furniture and household collection. Built for Michael Samson, Mayor of Fremantle (1905-1907) and inherited by his son, Sir Frederick Samson. the house and grounds are a snapshot into early life in the port city of Fremantle.

Samson House at Walyalup is open on the first Sunday and third Wednesday of each month for entry via general admission. This includes the volunteers opening up Samson House at Walyalup on Sunday 3 November 2024. You can choose to arrive at either 10.30am, 11.00am, 11.30am or 12noon, with group numbers limited at each session to manage capacity at this precious place.

All visits require advance booking of general admission tickets online. General admission to the place helps us care for this special place and other heritage places that hold special stories of Western Australian history and heritage.
